The Beatles released no albums until 1963. They previously recorded single sides, some for Polydor in Germany during 1961, and an album-long audition tape for Decca on New Year's Day 1962. These were released years later as albums, outside the Beatles' control. Recordings of their last Hamburg engagement (New Year's Eve, 1962-63) also appeared later in album form.
