In the third book, the hippogriff, Buckbeak, dies, but Harry and Hermione go back in time and save him from execution. In the fourth book, Cedric Diggory dies. In the fifth book, Sirius dies. In the Sixth book, Dumbeldore dies. In the seventh book, Lord Voldemort dies and so do a lot of other people.
