Ice cream i which in Italy is Gelato a bit different than Ice cream is very much a favorite in Italy .There are pizza shops with delicious take out squares of pizza , enjoyed very much by teenager, young people and tourists alike. Fresh fruit and vegetables in season are important- the tomato, bell peppers, green onions, yellow onions, garlic, fennel, capers, olives, mushrooms, carrots, cauliflower, zucchini, eggplant, all types of greens and lettuces, in season fruit, lemons, oranges watermelon, apples, pears nectarines. Herbs & spices include rosemary, black pepper, basil, thyme, parsley, salt, red pepper flakes. Olive oil is used much. to cook with and to dress salad. Hazel nuts and pine nuts are used too.
