Sir Isaac Newton is credited with discovering that the color of the sky is blue. He demonstrated that white light is made up of various colors, and that the blue color of the sky is the result of the scattering of sunlight by the Earth's atmosphere.
The discovery of the reason for the blue sky is credited to Sir John William Strutt, also known as Lord Rayleigh. In the 19th century, he explained that the scattering of sunlight by the gases and particles in the Earth's atmosphere causes the blue color of the sky.
