Edward Jenner (17 May 1749 - 26 January 1823) is known as the "Father of Immunology" and is credited with the "invention" of small pox vaccine, upon which development of all subsequent vaccines has been based.
There is no vaccine for Plague, but it can be cured if caught early enough through antibiotic treatment.
