e. goldstein dicovered the proton. another kind of rays were found by him behind the cathode in the dicharge tube experiment similar to the one conducted by jj thompson.
Goldstein was the first to record a ray of positively charge particles in a gas discharge. However, he did NOT find a consistent charge to mass ratio for the particles he was studying. This is no surprise, as some of these rays were protons and some where ionized nuclei. JJ Thompson DID find a consistent charge to mass ratio of his negatively charged particles in his cathode rays, and called these particles "corpuscles."
Goldstein never made the intellectual leap of concluding that the positive particles in the rays he was studying were made of a single positive particle. It was Rutherford who first proposed, based on experimental results, that all elements were built out of the positive nuclei of hydrogen atoms.

Ernest Rutherford is generally credited with the discovery of the proton
Ernest Rutherford is credited with the discovery of the proton.
The proton was discovered by Ernest Rutherford in 1917. Rutherford identified the proton while conducting experiments on the structure of the atom.
The father of the proton is Ernest Rutherford. He discovered the proton in 1917 through his gold foil experiment, which demonstrated that the atom contains a dense, positively charged nucleus at its center.
You can find a proton (+) in the center of a atom.
The proton was discovered by James Chadwick in 1932.
A Proton
A proton is a subatomic particle which is the same in whichever element it is found. A proton from a Xenon atom is no different to that from a Hydrogen atom or a Uranium atom.
A proton is just one constituent of an atom therefore the atom is more complex.
A proton is one of the particles in an atom. An example sentence would be: The scientist realized he was looking at the wrong proton.
Discovery of the proton happened so slowly and by so many that it is impossible to give just one scientist credit for it. Physicists Rutherford, who is credited with discovering the nucleus, is also credited with coining the name proton.
the positively charged part of an atom is called proton
