the Spartans and the Athenians together beat up Persian armies. but Spartans fearing of Athenian's power strikes many attacks times on the enemy.

the Athenians attacked the trade routes but the Athenians grew weaker. the Athenian's power was the navy and they made a lot of loot by trading.but they lost like a bunch of crap against the Spartans.but I'm not surprised because Spartans are beast even though the Greece was the super power at that time. hope this helps<:)
