Actually, he marries both. After walking down memory lane, he goes into the future where he marries Veronica. Then, after walking back down memory lane, he goes back in time and marries Betty. So really, he first chose Veronica, then chose Betty.

This is most probably true, although their is a new Archie series coming out called 'the engagement' in which Archie proposes to Veronica but it is a six part series so he may in fact fall in love with Betty!!!

it was one of the later episodes (season 8 episode 19 entitled "Two's a Crowd") where Mike and Archie are locked in the storage room at Archie's bar and they start drinking. There is a moment when they show Mike's face and I think he finally understands Archie better once Archie tells him the "Shoebootie" story. In all of the years of the show and of their fighting, it's the first time that Mike 'gets it' from Archie's point of view.
