The man on the moor deduced that Watson was in the hut because he saw footprints leading from the hut to the spot where Watson was hiding. He then followed the footprints and found Watson.
No he did not. Watson made the point that Holmes even maintained his clean-shaven appearance while he was living on the moor in 'The Hound of the Baskervilles.'
Watson is shocked and surprised when he discovers that the other man on the moor is his friend Sherlock Holmes, who has faked his own death to deceive his enemies. Watson is both relieved and emotional to see Holmes alive, but also feels betrayed by the deception.

Her younger brother, Selden the Notting Hill murderer, has recently escaped from Princetown prison, and he is living upon the moor. He dies upon the moor soon after Watson discovers Holmes' hideout.
He finds a group of huts near the tor where he first saw the mysterious man from the roof of Frankland's residence with a magnifier. He actually sees a young boy go to one of the huts while he is looking. He walks to the area and finds a hut that is recently inhabited and waits for the man to return.
Dr Watson becomes suspicious of Mr Barrymore's character when he discovers that his wife has been signaling someone on the moor at night. This leads Watson to believe that Mr Barrymore may be involved in some secretive or suspicious activity.
Since a moor is a member of a Muslim people of mixed Berber and Arab descent, now living chiefly in northwest Africa...I guess you would have to be adopted by a Moorish family. One cannot become a Moor one has to be born a Moor. The so called black man and woman here in America are the true descendants of the Moors,but do not know their heritage or nationality.
