I think that breast reconstruction using existing body tissue is the preferred treatment but I expect implants are also an option
A breast implant is a prosthesis which is inserted into the breast in order to artificially enlarge its size. They are available in different shapes and sizes. Breast implant, saline- or silicone-filled prosthesis used after mastectomy as a part of the breast reconstruction process or used cosmetically to augment small breasts. The first silicone breast implant was developed in 1961 by two plastic surgeons, Frank Gerow and Thomas Cronin. In 1962 they performed the first breast augmentations using these silicone implants on 12 women in Houston, Texas.
The first implant was carried out in 1895 - using tissue from the woman's own body. there is a comprehensive Wikipedia article on the subject - see related link.
One cannot predict whether you'll be able to breast feed whether you have a breast implant or not. However, certain incisions used by your plastic surgeon may affect your ability to breast feed. A study conducted at Texas Children's hospital revealed that using the periareolar incision is most likely to affect one's ability to breast feed.
I am a Utah Plastic Surgeon - Breast augmentation can be done with breast implants. There are other methods (none of which are mainstream or work terribly well at this point) including the Brava system and structural fat grafting.
Implants are relatively the same, once you have determined what material, size, shape, etc. you are looking for. The real difference in 'good' implants would be the surgeon performing the surgery. The expertise and the knowledge a surgeon has can vary dramatically and for a patient that is something to consider. Board-certified plastic surgeons are a good place to start because they offer a lot of knowledge and experience to their patients. The national average for breast implants is $6,250 and vary dramatically across the nation due to the above paragraph. It would be safe to assume that 'good implants' would start around this range and potentially be a bit more expensive. Some examples are in the $8,000 range. Schedule a consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon to learn more.
It COULD be done, but most doctors would rather not do that, since that could cause problems with skin and rejection. It's just easier to use implants that are made manmade, instead of using somebody else's leftovers...
It is healthier to have natural breasts. This is not only because you are at risk when you have ANY surgery performed on your body, you are also at risk for other infections and internal unhealthiness due to having implants (which is considered a foreign object to your body). Although, with today's medicine, it isn't as risky to your health get breast implants.
This is called "fat transfer breast augmentation", and it is available through most reputable plastic surgeons. How this is done has been shown on the TV show, "The Doctors". The technique is called fat grafting or LipoStructure (Dr. Sydney Coleman's registered term). It is especially useful for reconstruction of the breast after a lumectomy or mastectomy, and it can round out the edges of the silicone gel and saline implants.
It is not known exactly when the U.K began using hormone implants in beef cattle, but several sources imply that they began use of these implants in the mid-1950s, primarily as diethylstilboestrol (DES) and hexoestrol. Please see the related link below for more information.
Ask yourself first are they real, meaning naturally big, or are they big because of augmentation, meaning improved in size using implants. The best way to tell if they are real or fake in regard to a celeb, or anybody is a look of hardness to the breast.
