Who ever answered this before me was wrong. I actually used a Social Studies book to answer this and first of all,the mask that they wear when mummifing the body is Anubis ( the Egyptian sun god),and the Sphinx is supposed to represent that the pharaoh is almighty( some people think it's resembels a lion others think it resembles a pharaoh, it actually means that the pharaoh is verry powerfull, like a lion.)
