Depending on how you want to look at it, Taco Bell was created either around late 1951/early 1952 or else in 1962.Taco Bell essentially started In late 1951 or early 1952, when Glen Bell (who already owned and operated several other fast food restaurants) opened a new stand selling tacos under the name of Taco-Tia. Over the next few years Bell owned and operated a number of restaurants in southern California including four called El Taco. Bell sold the El Tacos to his partner and built the first "Taco Bell" in Downey, California in 1962.
