Sugarland's sophomore album, Enjoy The Ride, was produced by Byron Gallimore. It contains a total of eleven tracks - all co-written by Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush with the aid of a few other writers (Bobby Pinson, Jeff Cohen and Tim Owens to name a few). Yes she wrote the song.

No, it was inspired by Reba's song "Whoever's in New England".
She was contantly exposed to music from the time she was a baby. Her mother played the radio and said Jennifer would sing along in perfect time. For more info check out Jennifer's bio at http://www.jennifernettles.com/
It's the class ring for alumnae of Agnes Scott College in Decatur, GA.
The song is not about Bon Jovi. She has stated she sat down on her couch and wrote Stay because she so much like the country song "Whoever's In New England" by Reba McIntire. She was inspired to write Stay from the point of view of the 'other woman'.

It's just a song about a boy asking a girl to hang out. Maybe he hasn't gone as far as he would like with this girl, or maybe he really likes her, maybe he's bored.

SPECULATION was wild when she sang that song (Stay) at the CMA's instead of then new single Everyday America. At the time it was believed to be a message sent at the expense of national television exposure to promote Everyday America. Stay is a beautiful song but not very radio friendly because of the acoustic highs and lows of the ballad. Supposedly when the song was written it was third person. Because of the emotional reaction in the video one would have to ask is there something now that has made this song very first person for Jen?
It's the ring from her alma matter, Agnes Scott College. Deemed the "black ring mafia", students get it spring of their sophmore year as one of the college's most cherished traditions
to stay behind or to be left
She said she wrote it because she liked the song "Whoever's in New England" by Reba McIntire and wrote "Stay" as another point of view, the other woman. So far she has not associated "Stay" with a living person and she's clearly stated it was not about herself. http://www.umgnashville.com/artist/detail.aspx?nid=4131&aid=181&utm_source=rss&utm_campaign=rss&utm_medium=News&utm_content=nid_4131
