Factories often located in China and staffed with sweatshop laborers. in fact, if you think about, the (fictitious) story of Santa's workshop is basically about Santa running a sweatshop... no compensation for the elves (who do all the labor) is ever mentioned, and their only purpose there is to build toys. Given the number of children in the world, it's ridiculous to think that production needs could be met in just a single season, so we're probably talking about year-round forced labor.

Lots of people and animals help Santa. Elves, Reindeer, and parents of children all over the world are some of his helpers.
Santa's elves help santa.
The Elves are the toy makers for Santa.
Elves help Santa by running the factory, helping to make the toys, monitoring the nice and naughty lists, feeding the reindeer, and doing whatever else they can. They are all volunteers of course, though.

Helpers agreed to make toys for Santa so that he could have toys for everyone. (Helpers = people who provide help)
The elves would be Santa Claus' workers I wouldn't say slaves because the elves help make the toys.

no Santa has elves that make the toys
Santa Claus does not actually make the toys, but his elves do. They make them in Santa's workshop, which is located in the North Pole.
Santa makes the toys in his myths. Being a myth he doesn't actually make toys or buy them. He isn't real.
