A US one dollar coin dated 1974 is an Eisenhower dollar. This series was struck from 1971 to 1978. None of the coins made for general circulation contain any silver or are worth more than face value. The Mint did strike Proof and collectors coins of a 40% silver composition with "S" mintmarks from 1971-1976 but they were not released into circulation and are the only coins of this series to have more than face value.
