The first country that Alexander the Great ever ruled was Macedonia, which was his homeland. After the assassination of his father, King Philip II, in 336 BC, Alexander ascended to the throne and became the ruler of Macedonia at the age of 20.
I'm not entirely sure about this, but I think during the Hellenistic age you didn't actually have a last name; you were known by your first name and then your town or city name. Like Alexander of Macedon(ia). His father is actually known like that - Philip of Macedon (or King Philip II, whatever). --SabraKadabraNo one has ever discovered that. People like him weren't called by their last names , So no one knows what his is .
Well, "Alexander" is the Latinized (Roman) version of Alexandros, which is his Greek name, and what he went by during his own lifetime. His full name would be Alexandros Philippou Makedonon (Alexander, [son] of Philippos, of Macedon). When the Romans later wrote about him, they Anglisized it to Alexander. The East did this as well, they called him Sikander. Incidently, his nickname (for close friends) would have been Aleko or Alekos.
Alexander the Great was the King of Macedonia from 336 BCE until 323 BCE and son of Philip II of Macedon. He was born in Pella on the northern Greek Peninsula. Alexander came from tThe Argead dynasty (Greek: Ἀργεάδαι) an ancient Greek royal house who were the founders and the ruling dynasty of Macedon from about 700 to 310 BCE. Their tradition, as described in ancient Greek historiography, traced their origins to Argos, in southern Greece, hence the name Argeads or Argives.
Arguably, the ancient kingdom of Macedon (modern day Greece) was the first nation to reach India, as Alexander the Great conquered some lands today a part of western India.
In my opinion Alexander of Macedon was most remembered in Egypt for founding the city of Alexandria; the cultural center of the ancient world, and the first ancient library.
Julius Caesar came first. He was the great uncle of Augustus Caesar.
Alexander the Great
Alexander IV of Macedon was the child of Alexander and Roxana. He was born in 323 BCE, shortly after his fathers' death. Due to political struggles surrounding those who wanted to take control of the Empire, he was assassinated at 13 years old.
