3 So Judas came to the garden, guiding a detachment of soldiers and some officials from the chief priests and the Pharisees. They were carrying torches, lanterns and weapons.
A detachment of Roman soldiers is approximately 1/10th of a Roman Legion which would make it 600 men following Judas.

Judas kissed jesus on the cheek
He wasn't there - he'd gone off to betray Jesus.
Judas' kiss of betrayal was a sign to the mob who came to arrest Jesus that he was the one to arrest. A kiss was, and still is, a common greeting custom in the Middle East. Using it in this way was the ultimate hypocrisy.
He was one of the 12 Apostles hand selected by Jesus to be by Jesus' side during his earthly divine ministry and who "betrayed" Jesus with a kiss in the garden of Gethsemane.
