People follow Jesus because they believe he is the embodiment of God and or Christ. Jesus is often idolized as the perfect example of how all humans should attempt to live their lives. Jesus never sinned and because of this God gave him powers to perform miracles. Therefore, Jesus was a pretty cool dude. Whether you believe Jesus was the son of God, or just someone who embodied his word, he sets an excellent example for our lives. Many Christians and Non-Christians
alike follow him and look towards him for guidance
This is a great question and I am glad that it was asked where anyone can read it. So lets begin:
To answer this question, we need to ask ourselves what was important to Jesus above all else. To know what that is, we need to turn to Matthew 22:34-40:
34 Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. 35One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: 36"Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?"
37 Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."
Jesus tells us to do two things in a specific order:
So to follow the example of Jesus today, this means that we are to love God first and above all else, and to love others as we love ourselves. This means we are to be interested in other people's well-being as much as our own. If you see a Christian acting like everyone else, doing all the same things, holding all the same prejudices, they are not being very Christ-like because they are not being loving to their neighbor.
In my opinion, there are 4 things that Christians are interested in most (It should probably be in this order.):
To verify it, check John 3:16-18.
I think it is important to note that many Christians and non-Christians get caught up in the law of the Old Testament, but never consider these verses while doing so. Jesus Himself says that, "all the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."
There is a lot of church sponsored humanitarian work--for example, Habitat for Humanity. Showing love for people all over the world is the essence of Jesus' message, as far as I'm concerned.
Jesus was seen as a crazy preacher by some and as a leader by others. Very few people followed him and believed he was the son of god in the beginning, like Christians do today.
we, christians, are Jesus' disciples, we are supposed to share our faith and tell everyone about the gospel.
They were passed on through the generations
How is Jesus alive today
saved us from our sins and the evil one. - Jesus did not pity one single person, because he had no reason too. - Through love for his brothers and sisters, Jesus died a cruel death in which he did not deserve. - After the people saw Jesus heal and care for people they followed from his example. - Jesus came to earth to become one of us so that we could become like him. - We became free at the cause of him. jesus impacted us BIG TIME! I hope this helped. God Bless you!
Jesus of Nazareth, called Jesus Christ ("Jesus the Messiah") who lived in Israel from about 4 BC to around 30AD. He is followed by over two and a half billion Christians worldwide today, and countless millions over the last 2000 years.Christians believe that he is divine and God in human form. This is on account of his teaching, his miracles, his death by crucifixion and his rising to life again three days after his execution, and witnessed by hundreds of people who converted from Judaism to Christianity.
Although all of them have been declared Saints afterward by the Catholic Church, most of them were regular people with regular jobs who believed in the Divine mission of Jesus Christ, and followed him. In that sense they are very much like many of today's Christians.
Jesus is Lord.
Jesus was an observant Jew. There were several sects of Judaism as there are today. He disagreed with some of the practices of his time and set about "improving" the overall tenets. Casting out the moneylenders was only one example. His disciples "founded" the sect we know today as Christianity.
No person can be exactly as Jesus was, for all fall short of perfection. There are however some who have the within them the characteristic virtues of being Christ like.
yes. they are the main carriers of jesus' mission today
