On July 4, 1776 the Declaration of Independence was signed by 56 American colonists who were requesting their indepedence from England. In doing so they became enemies of England and King George III - many lost their homes, were chased by the English army, their families were relocated and were never found. These men took a chance with their lives speaking out. That is what our Independence Day is all about.
