Who is credited for inventing the radio and when was it invented?

Guglielmo Marconi was one of the first to develop commercial workable radio communication. He sent and received his first radio signal in Italy in 1895. Some believe that Nikola Tesla (or others) invented it. See the related links area if you are interested in reading about the controversy and the different patents that were granted.

When was the radio invented by Mr Marconi?

Answer, never! Marconi used 17 pattens of Nikola Tesla to send his famous letter "s". United States Supreme Court gave back the Nobel prize and the honor to Nikola Tesla in the 1940s Nikola Tesla invented the first radio controlled boat. Go back further and you will find Hertz. He actually had created the first transistor and receiver but Nikola Tesla perfected it. Thank you Hertz for your discoveries and Nikola Tesla for perfecting our wireless phones, Remote control, radio controlled anything" Please research your history!

Why were radios invented?

With his newly created Tesla coils, the inventor Nikola Tesla soon discovered that he could transmit and receive powerful radio signals when they were tuned to resonate at the same frequency. When a coil is tuned to a signal of a particular frequency, it literally magnifies the incoming electrical energy through resonant action. By early 1895, Tesla was ready to transmit a signal 50 miles to West Point, New York... But in that same year, disaster struck. A building fire consumed Tesla's lab, destroying his work. The timing could not have been worse. In England, a young Italian experimenter named Guglielmo Marconi had been hard at work building a device for wireless telegraphy. The young Marconi had taken out the first wireless telegraphy patent in England in 1896. His device had only a two-circuit system, which some said could not transmit "across a pond." Later Marconi set up long-distance demonstrations, using a Tesla oscillator to transmit the signals across the English Channel. Tesla filed his own basic radio patent applications in 1897. They were granted in 1900. Marconi's first patent application in America, filed on November 10, 1900, was turned down. Marconi's revised applications over the next three years were repeatedly rejected because of the priority of Tesla and other inventors. But no patent is truly safe, as Tesla's career demonstrates. In 1900, the Marconi Wireless Telegraph Company, Ltd. began thriving in the stock marketsdue primarily to Marconi's family connections with English aristocracy. British Marconi stock soared from $3 to $22 per share and the glamorous young Italian nobleman was internationally acclaimed. Both Edison and Andrew Carnegie invested in Marconi and Edison became a consulting engineer of American Marconi. Then, on December 12, 1901, Marconi for the first time transmitted and received signals across the Atlantic Ocean. Otis Pond, an engineer then working for Tesla, said, "Looks as if Marconi got the jump on you." Tesla replied, "Marconi is a good fellow. Let him continue. He is using seventeen of my patents." But Tesla's calm confidence was shattered in 1904, when the U.S. Patent Office suddenly and surprisingly reversed its previous decisions and gave Marconi a patent for the invention of radio. The reasons for this have never been fully explained, but the powerful financial backing for Marconi in the United States suggests one possible explanation. Tesla was embroiled in other problems at the time, but when Marconi won the Nobel Prize in 1911, Tesla was furious. He sued the Marconi Company for infringement in 1915, but was in no financial condition to litigate a case against a major corporation. It wasn't until 1943a few months after Tesla's death that the U.S. Supreme Court upheld Tesla's radio patent number 645,576. The Court had a selfish reason for doing so. The Marconi Company was suing the United States Government for use of its patents in World War I. The Court simply avoided the action by restoring the priority of Tesla's patent over Marconi.

Who invested the radio?

some random guys who a=was a itlaindont know any morethis was brought to you by nedster and co kindaGuglielmo Marconi was an Irish-Italian inventor and entrepreneur who popularized wireless telegraphy early in the 20th century. One of the founding guglielmo-marconiof radio communication, Marconi got interested in 1894 in the electromagnetic wave experiments by H. R. Hertz. Working at his father's estate, Marconi devised a working receiver and in 1895 sent and received radio waves over greater and greater distances. When the Italian government showed little interest in his operation, Marconi went to England, where he founded his own wireless telegraph company in 1897. He was awarded a patent for "tuned or syntonic telegraphy" (patent no. 7777) and set about proving that wireless telegraphy could be a benefit to society as well as a profitable enterprise. By 1902 Marconi had established that wireless communication was possible even across the Atlantic Ocean, even though his claim of the first successful transatlantic signal (from England to Newfoundland, December of 1901) was never independently verified. For patents in the U.S., Marconi was in competition with http://www.answers.com/main/ntq-dsid-1648-dekey-nikolatesla, who held the first patents until the United States Patent Office reversed itself in 1904 and gave Marconi credit for the radio. Marconi was from a well-connected family (his mother, Anne Jameson, was the granddaughter of the founder of the distillery that makes Jameson Irish whiskey) and was able to develop and finance an expansion of his businesses. During the first part of the 1900s his company patented several inventions, including what became the standard wireless receiver for many years. Marconi got rich and in 1909 shared the Nobel Prize for Physics

Where was the first radio invented at?

The first radio (sending back and forth radio waves) was invented in 1895 in Italy. No that is old info. Marconi got the patent until the United States Supreme Court gave the patent to Nikola Tesla who filed his patent in 1897. Today it is listed as Nikola Tesla even though many text books still have it incorrect.

Did marconi have a funerall?

Yes, the Italian Government gave him a state funeral on his death 20 July 1937.

Who was the first person to bring out radio and when?

As with most scientific advances, no one person can be said to be the definitive person who started radio. A German chap called Hertz experimented with 'radio' waves late in the 19th century. The person who gave radio its biggest boost in its early days was Marconi, a man of Italian background working in Britain. In the early days, messages sent from ships to shore, for instance from the Titanic, were known as Marconigrams.

Was there TV and Film during the great depression?

There was no TV as we know it today during the Depression. Radio was the major form of home entertainment. The movies was one of the few industries that did not suffer as a result of the Depression. Movies became the main form of entertainment until the development of TV. Prices were cheap, about 25 cents for adults and 10 cents for children. The movies that did the best were escapist themes, which appealed to the people during the Depression.
