Three Gorges Dam
Introduction
A dam is a barrier that impounds water. Dams generally serve the primary purpose of retaining water The three gorges dam is in china on the Yangtze river
The three gorge dam was built to reduce floods in front of the dam and to create hydroelectricity and cost $26 billion
Impact
Resettlement is the first impact on people if your house is below 175 meters above the dam then you have to move or you will be flooded Then there are the landslide s that are predicted to occur because of erosion my last impact is that fish are dying out because the dam is restricting their access to their breeding area and because the fish are dying out they bigger animals that eat the fish are dying as well for example the porpoise
Short Term Impacts
People moving house is a short term because eventually they will move into a new house
Jobs are also another short term impact because when the dam is finished there is no need for anyone to be there unless it breaks then people will be needed
Long term impacts
Pollution is a long term aspect because there is litter building up behind the dam because the rivers strong current used to wash away all the litter
