Many queens through having their own holdings were very powerful women. Eleanor of Aquitaine was one such woman. The king tried to control her by placing her in exile, but she was the mother of 3 kings and had her own land. She also went on a Crusade. The Kings and Queens used God as having placed them on the throne.
