I have experienced cradle rot on my 2004 Pacifica. Chrysler refuses to fix, says it was caused by the environment;nonsense! It's time to start a class action suit
Behind the motor at the lower rear of the engine cradle sub frame, between the front wheels.
K-Frame, Sub Frame, Cross member, Depends on the vehicle.
Open hood remove 2 screw on frame holding in headlight, you will have to move headlight from side to side because there is a plastic clip which holds it in. once removed you will need a star bit to remove lamp
Depends on the car front wheel drive it a cradle rear wheel drive it a sub frame.
in many places
It is called the engine cradle, 4 main bolts hold the cradle to the sub-frame. An easy way to pull an engine is to drop the cradle to the ground, AFTER unhooking ALL the wiring and hoses. This should not be attempted by a nonprofessional.
The engine cradle is typically what is reffered to as the frame. It must be removed to gain enough clearance for the transmission to be removed and reinstalled.
You can purchase the sub frame bushings on line for about $40.00 each. You will need 4. The job itself takes about an hour at your local mechanic. Then you will need an alignment. It's about $100.00.
Find a body shop with someone that is older than 60. Chrysler has not had a frame since the sixty's.
The frame for the LH series of cars has a "sub-frame" or cradle which carries the engine/transmission. This sub-frame is bolted to the main chassis of the car with four large "cradle bushings" to islolate vibrations and such. If you jack up the car a little bit, and look underneath, you will readily see the engine cradle. You will see the four round mounts, two at the front, and two towards the back, where the rear transmission mount is. Each bushing is each is about 3 inches in diameter. They kinda look like an inverted cone with a large bolt head in the middle, with rubber squishing out around the outside edge of them. JH
There are three screws that need to be taken off when changing the filter; the two that hold the top down(located on the left and right side of the casing as you are looking down at it from the passenger side of vehicle) and the one that is mounted on to the frame. Once these are taken off, you can maneuver the top of the case off and replace the filter.
