After she escaped slavery, she rescued other slaves. Usually the slaves that she was helping hid in Quakers' homes. Over 70 of them were freed.
They did and they had a movement of people who hid slaves ( this was the underground railroad) and protected slaves. They wrote articles for papers and gave speeches. The book Uncle Tom's Cabin was about slavery and was a best seller. The movement was very big.
The more the State in America was growing cotton the more they were in need of slaves and hence the slavery trade got flourished.
