Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827) was a German composer. He continued to compose music even after he began losing his power to hear when he was 28 years old. Beethoven's Fifth and his Ninth Symphony are two of the best known compositions. He first performed at the age of seven. Beethoven went deaf at an early age. It is said that he cut the legs off a piano so he could feel the vibrations of the music so that he could still conduct music. This, however, is not as dramatic as it sounds: many early pianos were made with removable legs so they could be moved between the courts where the musicians played. Beethoven is generally regarded as the composer who bridged the transition between the Classical and Romantic Eras in music. It was Beethoven's introduction of expressive and passionate dynamics that introduced the Romantic Era.

Among the many wonderful compositions of Beethoven, the symphony that stands out for its popular appeal ever since written is his 5th Symphony, with its frighteningly grand repetitions and overall power. By contrast, a nearly equally famous piece is his Moonlight Sonata, a piano-piece that demonstrates an exquisitely light touch, tranquil and even dreamy in character.
Beethoven's major repertoire is piano music, followed by string quartets and symphonies. His symphonies, however, are probably his best-known works.
Mozart's piano style ranges from Baroque counterpoint to Classical galant style. Most of his piano sonatas are written for saloon environments which contain occasional fugal movements. The best example for a composition in galant style is his Sonata for Two Pianos in D, K 448.
Beethoven's father beat him if he refused to play the piano.
Beethoven wrote a lot of 'masterpieces.' His best known pieces would probably be the Moonlight Sonata, especially the first movement, his Pathetique Sonata, and the most infamous, Fur Elise. Hope this helps!!
