I believe if you're refering to the explorer, the Incas would have introduced him. The reason for that is because the Incas were wealthy on two things, gold, and cocoa beans. Cocoa beans were made into chocolate.
Cortes did not invent hot chocolate. The Aztecs (present day Mexico) drank a chocolate beverage, and Cortes brought it back to the court of Spain, in Sevilla.
Hernan Cortes did not discover chocolate. Chocolate had been consumed by indigenous Mesoamerican civilizations for centuries before Cortes arrived in the Americas in the 16th century. Cortes did, however, introduce chocolate to Europe after encountering it during his encounters with the Aztec empire.

Hernan Cortes brought back treasures such as gold, silver, and fine art from the Aztec Empire. He also introduced new goods to Europe, including chocolate and tobacco.
