as far as we know legendary tv Host Preston Lopez from Washington Heights in Manhattan New York City invented or popularized the drink on his show "The PL Show" in the early 1990's. "once you put something on tv you never know who is watching or who is going to copy or going to capitalize on the original idea." he once said.
