The glass cooktop is a thin dense material and basically acts as a heatsink, compared to the material the kitchen-top is made of (thick wood chip-board). This is why the cooktop will always be warm or even hot to the touch while the kitchentop is constantly cool. When installing a glass cooktop above the oven, you must always make sure that the space where the oven and cooktop are installed in the kitchen unit is adequately ventilated because when you use your oven the area where the oven is will warm up. Above it you have your glass cooktop, which is cold. This will cause condensation on the inside surface of the cooktop which could cause complications.
