Roping was not necessarily invented but mostly the only way in the old days to catch calves to brand or to doctor them. It evolved into a sport after a while when the cowboys started to get competitive while working on the ranch. Finally in 1929 the Rodeo Association of America was founded which evolved into today's PRCA (Professional Rodeo Cowboy's Association). Here are a few good websites that you can learn a lot from: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_rodeo http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calf_roping http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Team_roping http://www.prorodeo.com/

What year was jump rope invented?

The history of jump rope starts off with the Ancient Romans. During the time when they had prisoners and slaves they would make them either fight in the Colosseum against Gladiators or lions. Many who fought were mostly men. They fought for their lives and sometimes but very rarely freedom. Having been forced to fight they had no other choice. Jump rope was one of the things that occurred from a battle in the Colosseum. A man well actually slave whose name was Andraous Liabath was fighting a lion. And this lion and just been brought from another country but as the Romans would call it, savage land. Andraous was fighting the lion, however the lion being not properly tamed or fed was on a chain for the safety of the audience. Andraous to escape the lion or confuse it was jumping back and forth over the chain. Soon the lion became annoyed and lashed out lifting the chain above Andraous. When the chain landed on the ground Andraous then jumped over it again. From then roman children had used chains or ropes to jump up and down over the rope as Andraous had done. So that was the way jump rope occurred from.
