Soap.
Soap on a rope is not an idiom, it is a literal bar of soap attached to a rope, which makes it easy to keep ahold of and you can hang it up to dry. See the related link below. Usually soap-on-a-rope is a homemade product, excessively fragrant with a very short rope. I found an excellent soap-on-a-rope called Lassoap on Amazon.com. It is regular commercial soap on a long cord. Perfect. The company is LifEase Products LLC, and their customer service is great. You can get Dial, Dove, Olay, Irish Spring, Ivory and I think they also will do other soaps too. I used it when I had a hip replacement. I was getting frustrated when I dropped soap in the shower. That problem is now solved.
