Luther Haws in 1906 invented the first drinking fountain. Luther was a master plumber and sheet metal contractor as well as a sanitation inspector for the City of Berkeley, California. He noticed kids drinking froma single, shared cup and using Plumbing parts he assembled the world's first drinking faucet. In 1911, the Haws Sanitary Drinking Faucet Company received the US patent for the world's first drinking faucet.
