Where did Alexander cumming invent the flush toilet?

He was awarded the first patent for the flushing toilet (or valve closet) in 1775. This new toilet was an improvement of Sir John Harrington's water closet, which was invented in 1596 and used by Queen Elizabeth I. The water closet was able to flush, but did not have a water trap. Cummings' toilet allowed some water to stay in the bowl after flushing because of the "S trap," a sliding valve between the bowl and trap. This excess water kept the house from smelling like sewage and helped to clean the bowl after use. Many other inventors followed Cummings and contributed their ideas to what is now the modern day toilet.

Can you install a RV toliet in your home and will it work with a septic tank?

An RV toilet is designed to be mounted over a holding tank. They use almost no water which at first might sound appealing, but unless you have a septic tank under your bathroom it would be bad news for home installation. Unless modified, an RV toilet would not be able to get the solid waste to your home septic system. A home toilet uses the force of the water to move the solid waste to your septic tank. Look for a low flush toilet or a composting toilet instead.

Fix Your Toilet Today?

Let's be honest. Toilet problems aren't only a nuisance, they can also be embarrassing. For instance, what if you have an unpredictable toilet downstairs and you're expecting company? Is that a risk you really want to take? It's much better to get your toilet fixed and enjoy peace of mind. There are many ways to look into toilet flush repair, but the best approaches will be listed here for your convenience. The first requirement for any toilet flush repair company is that they're available 24/7. Without that, they should be excluded from consideration. After all, what are you going to do if you have a leak at 3 a.m. and dirty water is running out of your bathroom and down the stairs? This is something that requires immediate attention. In order to ensure that the toilet flush repairman will arrive in time, it's important that you choose someone local. Another requirement when searching for toilet flush repair options is that they don't charge a trip fee. The reason for this is simple. Some servicemen and companies charge a trip fee and others don't. Why not save the money? Some people attempt to fix their toilet problems on their own, but this isn't recommended unless you're trained in the business. You might be able to fix a problem temporarily, but it will likely return if your adjustment isn't correct. Not only that, but a big problem with toilet repairs is that while fixing one problem, you can inadvertently cause another one. The second problem is often worse than the original. That being the case, it's much better to hire a toilet flush repair person who knows what they're doing and can make sure everything is operational without any further issue. The most common toilet problem is leaking. This is a major problem for obvious reasons. Once that dirty water gets on your carpet, it's difficult to remove. Flushing power and unexplainable noises are other common problems, but they are less serious. That said, get them taken care of as soon as possible. They are often signs of bad things to come. It only takes one call for toilet flush repair to fix everything.

How much water do you use by flushing the toilet?

* In the US approximately 40% of all domestic water consumed is flushed down the toilet. * an old-style single flush toilet can use up to 5.5 gallons (20 liters) of water in one flush, whereas more water efficient dual flush toilets average less than 1 gallon (4 liters) * replacing a traditional single flush toilet with a water efficient dual flush toilet saves about 21 gallons (80 liters) per person per day.
