Since the dawn of time man has produced some sort of liquor, wine, beer or drinks. In ancient Egyptian tombs they have found the residue of drinks that were wine, beer, and liquors. There have been the same discoveries all over the world in ancient digs and tombs.

∙ 13y agoThe Martini was invented by Vincenzo Petrone. He was the Chief Barman at the Hotel Ambassador on Via Veneto in Rome, Italy in the early 1950's and 60's.
He was also notable for mixing drinks for American soldiers in Rome during the American occupation of Italy in World War II.
It seems his service not only netted him a name for mixing various alcohol concoction's, but he also appeared in several Italian movies in the 60's as a Barman at the Ambassador Hotel. He also came from a family of notable Civil Servants for the Italian Monarchy. His father was in fact the Chef to King Victor Emmanuel III.
Vincenzo was honored with one of the most notable titles in Italy for service, the title of Cavaliere del Lavoro, given to those individuals who demonstrated great achievement for business and philanthropy.
It is rumored that Vincenzo sold his recipe for several beverages to Schweppes.
