Why was the race cam invented
Geoff Healey
Honestly, this engine does not deserve a race cam. You will not be able to get what you want out of it.
It was invented 1979 and Geoff Healey invented the race cam.
The invention of the transistor is one answer. The invention of the semiconductor is another. Going further back... the invention of the valve.
you cam compare who ran the farthest
Yes, back in the very early 1900s, shortly after the invention of the airplane.
oh yeah, empachers 'r made in Germany, and the original boat race (ox - cam) is an English tradition.
The answer is Frank Whittle's.
Seriously, don't mess with the cam that much unless you only plan to race it. Mild compression increase in the pistons and an RV cam will give you some decent improvement, and an exhaust header will also help.
That can't be answered without knowing what type of car it's going into. Is it a daily driver that needs to go through emissions tests? Is it a race car? Weight, axle gear ratio, transmission type and torque converter stall speed all matter a lot. But.............. to answer your question, you can put any size cam into a 350, because any cam made for a small block Chevy will fit. Drag race 350s can have cams with 260 or more degrees of duration (measured at .050" lift) and .700" or more cam lift. But that type of cam wouldn't run well at all below 3000 RPM.
Go to Road Race Enginiering they have a page on how to rewire the CAS
