He is a Spanish Painter. He came to Colombia in the second half of the XVIth century and exercised in the painter's office in Tunja. His only well-known work, Our lady of Chiquinquirá,had a byline of 1555 and it was much copied.
Panfilo de Narvaez brought a group of soldiers, including Alonso del Castillo, to accompany him on his expedition to Florida in 1527. The group also included African slaves and indigenous guides.
