Yes. Dallas Winston should be considered a hero, because he saved the life of several young people. Not many people would be so kind as to do something as important as this, but he did. He went back in after Johnny to help him live, even after the roof started falling down on them.

That sure does sound like a hero to me.

Dallas WInston is the toughest member of the group, and is seen as sort of a role model for JOhnny. He is 'untouchable' in that Pony isn't quite sure how to approach him. This is not true in the movie. He has a soft spot for Johnny because JOhnny reminds him of himself. Dally is mean, tuff, and at times, insensitive to others. He will do anything to protect those he loves though.
