Eve Sutton is a New Zealand born author. She specializes in writing for older children. Her books for an older reading audience of children include 'Johnny Sweep' [1977], 'Kidnapped by Blackbirders' [1984], 'Moa Hunter' [1978], 'Surgeon's Boy' [1984], 'Tuppenny Brown' [1977], and 'Valley of Heavenly Gold' [1995].
But Sutton may be best known for her first famous book, 'My Cat Likes to Hide in Boxes' [1973]. The book's illustrator was her cousin by law, the subsequent Dame Lynley Stuart Dodd [b. 1941]. Dodd continues in the children's literature field, and still publishes to the younger children's audience to which the Sutton-Dodd collaboration appeals.
