I believe 'Kraft Foods' is an international company with its corporate headquarters in the US. It files with the US SEC.But please understand while the headquarters of 'Kraft' are based in the US and it is therefore subject to US company law and its shares are traded there, it is not OWNED by the US. Companies (unless they are nationalised industries owned by a government) are owned by their shareholders. Shareholders could be of any nationality and live anywhere. The biggest holders of shares are usually pension funds.

Since Kraft doesn't deal directly with individual purchasers - only major bulk purchasers - they'll ship their commodities out by the truckload, which will usually be sent to a distribution center for that retailer, from which they'll be repackaged with other commodities into trailers which will do the actual distribution to the store(s).
