Michael in The Bible is an Archangel (Jude 9) a warrior in the angelic realm. A protector of Israel. It appears that Michael's "role" is over the nation of Israel.

Archangel means "to be first in rank or power in the angelic hierarchy" An archangel is one who stands in the very presence of God Almighty. Michael is of the highest rank of the heavenly hosts.

Some angels have influence over certain nations. Michael is one of the "chief princes" who rules and guards/protects the activities of Israel. See Daniel 10:13.

In Daniel 12:1 there is a prophecy regarding the end times.

......"At that time Michael shall stand up, the great prince who stands watch over the sons of your people,(Israel) and there will be a time of trouble such as never was since there was a nation, even to that time, and at that time your people (Israel) shall be delivered."

Rev. 12:7 "And war broke out in heaven. Michael and his angels fought with the dragon and the dragon and his angels fought.

In Jude v. 9 it states that Michael the archangel was contending with the devil about the body of Moses.

Michael is mentioned only 5 times in the Bible and in each case, spiritual warfare is clearly implied.

It appears that Michael has a unique place in the destiny of the nation of Israel.
