Rev. Shuttlesworth was Birmingham, AL's primary civil rights leader. He was responsible for inviting Dr. King to Birmingham to help with the local movement. He was very instrumental in integrating buses, schools, stores, etc. His home/church (they were next door to each other) were bombed 3 times, most notably on Christmas 1956. He, his entire immediate family, and his aides walked out perfectly fine. (March 18, 1922 - October 5, 2011)
