Currently it's Angela Merkel.

But in Germany the prime minister is called the "chancellor" or in German "Bundeskanzler" (if it's a man) or "Bundeskanzlerin" if it's a woman like Angela Merkel.

The President of Germany is currently Christian Wulff, member of the of the Christian Democratic Union Party. However, the President doesn't have much power other than to represent the country (except in times of instability, when they have reserve powers).

The person in charge of the country is the Chancellor (equivalent to a Prime Minister), currently Angela Merkel, member of the same party. The Chancellor is a member of the Bundestag (German Parliament) and the leader of the ruling party, and also the Executive branch.
