The Wicked Witch of the West is the villain in The Wizard of Oz. In the original book version by author and Oz series originator Lyman Frank Baum [May 15, 1856-May 5, 1919], she's the last of four wicked witches who made life miserable for the peoples of Oz. She shows her villainy in her inhospitable treatment of the enslaved Winkies of the Yellow Country of the West; and of Dorothy, her pet dog Toto, the Tin Woodman, the Scarecrow, and the Cowardly Lion. In her Yellow Castle, she's a slavedriver in the way that she makes Dorothy work so hard. And she's villainous in the way that she tries to take the Silver Slippers of the Wicked Witch of the East from Dorothy.
