A few million people panic buying more ammo than they need. Sucked the supply pipeline flat. It IS getting better, slowly.
Why is there a shortage of .22 ammunition?
There has been an ammo shortage for over a year as a result of panic buying.
Because people have been buying ammunition in record amounts- because they are afraid there will be a shortage of ammo.
Panic buying by millions of gun owners. The ammo supply is slowly improving, but people are afraid they will not be able to buy ammo, so they are scopping it up as soon as it gets in the store.
Most gun shops can order it for you if they do not have in stock, but there has been a shortage of much ammo over the past 18 months in the US.
CCI .22 Long Rifle- or any standard .22 Long Rifle ammo (there has been a major shortage of .22 ammo for a year now)
Paranoia among gun owners, many of whom believe (incorrectly) that the Obama Administration is preparing to restrict supply.
ammo and not vary good guns
There has been a severe shortage of .22 ammo for over a year. Ammo that SHOULD sell for about $3.00 per 50 rounds has been selling for $15-$20 per 50. It is simply not possible to state a price right now. Sorry-
It is simple supply and demand. Two endless wars, China buying up brass and other metals, promoted fear of the new administration, which has caused people to buy more ammo than they need, and new expanded police depts. are stocking up. This is now a perfect storm. Best thing to do is to sit and wait for the bubble to burst. Many are using this shortage to make excessive profits and take advantage of the situation. When it starts to back up, prices will fall, but it may be 6 months to a year or more. The sooner we stop buying, the sooner they have to eat the ammo. Maybe the Chinese or the Russians will dump a load of cheap ammo on the market and speed up things. With the way that wages have been depressed in this country for the last 10 years and the increase in prices for gas, food, etc., we can't keep buying ammo at these prices and survive.
.380 ACP, and nothing else. Right now, there's something of a shortage on .380 ammo, and it's not the easiest to find at the moment.
The supply is improving, and you may find it at local gun shops or sporting goods departments. Some is available from on-line sellers. There has been a major shortage of .22LR for the past year.
