ANSWERRitchie is one of the finest Guitarists around. He can play many styles on many different stringed instruments. He works at his craft endlessly and it shows. He can play fast and loud better than many out there but he can also play soft and contemplatively and bring you to tears with his melodies. Ritchie Blackmore is a guitarist, not a guitar player. He's a musician, not a person who playes music. There is a world of difference between the two.

The reason you don't see his name in lights or have the same recognition as Page is because he doesn't play the 'kiss up' game with people in the industry. He does what he wants to musically, and does it exceptionally well.

AnswerRitchie by far. He's a far superior guitarist, he writes deceptively simple riffs that no-one else would have had the audacity to do, he doesn't need loads of studio layering to make himself sound good and he sounds great live.
