Boy George, born George Alan O'Dowd, on 14/06/61, in Eltham, London, is a singer, song writer, music producer, and DJ. He is the former lead singer of the vastly successful band, Culture Club, which was part of the English New Romantic movement in the early 1980s. His androgynous style is synonymous with his personification, and helped to raise international recognition to alternate gender roles and gender indentity. Some of Culture Club's hits include: "Church Of The Poison Mind", "Do You Really Want to Hurt Me?", "Karma Chameleon", "I'll Tumble 4 Ya", "Time (Clock of the Heart)", "Miss Me Blind", and "It's A Miracle" . As a songwriter and vocalist, George has also contributed to movie soundtracks, and collabrotive projects such as on the Band Aid single "Do They Know It's Christmas". By 1986, George had developed an addiction to heroin, which interferred with Culture Club's ability to perform and record. In late 1986, Culture Club disbanded.

From the late 1980s through the current date, 01/09/2008, George performed as a solo artist, with moderate success though he was not able to duplicate the success he had enjoyed with Culture Club. In 1990 - 1991, George hosted a weekly chat and music show on the Power Station satellite channel called Blue Radio. In 1992, George covered the theme song to the Neil Jordan movie, The Crying Game, it turned out to be his last major hit single. George made many recordings between 1990 and 1994, but none surfaced. In 1995, George recorded the rock album "Cheapness and Beauty", though it was largely unsucessful. From 1996 - 2000, George attempted to record other albums but they were never released though recordings from the attempts have appeared in underground listings and sales.

In January 2011 George released a new album named Ordinary Alien (The Kinky Roland Files), in which one of his songs hit the charts, called Amazing Grace.

During and interview on BBC news, George confirmed that Culture Club will be doing a reunion world wide tour in 2012.
