There is no, single, definitive credit for who actually made the first ice cream. The earliest stories about ice cream are based on folklore with a form of ice sorbet reportedly being enjoyed in both China and Persia more than 2,000 years ago.
Down the centuries ice cream has been linked to some notable people in history - eg. Nero, the Roman Emperor, Marco Polo the medieval explorer and King Charles I of England.
