Who is exploiting the rainforest?

It is because of deforestation. It is destroying habitats and therefore there is less oxygen for us. There is also less products that are provided by trees.For example, Cocoa Beans, Paper, Timber, Coffee and types of Medicine.

Those who are cutting down the rain forest in the Amazon can probably be divided into one of two primary groups. One group cutting down the Amazon rain forest would be the "farmer" or "rancher" who sees that removing trees and other rain forest growth will open up land to farm or graze animals on. (The soil is very good from the streams washing water down streem, the trees in the amazon keep there roots high up because the soil is poor but is very good in the top layer.) The other group that heavily impacts the rain forest is the logger. Cutting timber for export onto the world market is big business. Lumber suppliers are interested in avoiding the purchase of "illegal" wood, but the wood doesn't come with a sign that says it's "okay" to use it. And as large sums of money exchange hands in this sad business, the practices continue and show little sign of letting up.
