They are planning on allowing the world's biggest dam, which will be called "Belo Monte", on the Amazon River. They also want to gut the forest protection laws to allow people to cut down the rainforest for money. They probably think that they will receive money by doing this.

Why are tropical rainforest trees different heights?

Tropical rainforest trees have different heights due to competition for light. Taller trees have an advantage in accessing sunlight in the upper canopy, while shorter trees thrive in the understory where light is limited. This vertical stratification of tree heights allows for efficient use of available light resources in the rainforest ecosystem.

Why people are destroying the rainforest?

People are destroying the rainforest primarily for economic reasons, such as logging, agriculture, and mining. What fossil fuel resources are found in the amazon rainforest?

By all means, no. The rainforests grow not in fertile soil but in their own leaf litter, this alone sustains them. When forest is cut/burnt down this leaf litter is gone leaving the poor soil behind. You may grow grass here but soon after the soil is depleted of all nutrients, no rainforest will regrow by any chance. Also many rainforest trees (mainly hardwoods like Teak and Mahogany) grow incredibly slowly, sometimes taking hundreds of years which makes tropical hardwood completely non-renewable. (even if you could just grow the stuff anywhere)
