Jens Stoltenberg (born 1959), first became the Norwegian Prime Minister as deputy leader of the Labour party. He served from 2000 March 17 to 2001 October 9, as the Labour party was heavily defeated in the 2001 parliamentary election by the Christian Democratic Party.
Officially becoming party leader on 2002 April 6, Stoltenberg was able to lead the party to victory in the 2005 and 2009 elections. Stoltenberg became the prime minister again on 2005 October 7.
