Captain Kuro of the Black Cat pirates was a notorious pirate captain. To escape justice, he used his first mate Jango's powers of hypnosis to make the marines believe they had captured him, when in fact it was a hypnotised body double.

Kuro then went undercover, acting as a butler to Kaya on Syrup Island, under the assumed name of Kurahadol. He planned to murder her and steal her riches, meeting up with his crew on the island three years later as he prepares to put his plan into action.

Ultimately Kuro and his crew are defeated. Jango becomes separated from the crew, and ends up joining the marines. He has not been shown again in the manga, but had one brief scene in the anime where he learned of Luffy's 300,000,000 bounty.
